Water Pipe Repair

Pipe Repair

Remember the times when you heard tip tip sounds and thought that it must probably be some drops of water leaking from the tap? But later you find out that your tap or faucet leak is not just a regular leak but maybe something more serious going on in the pipes?

A leaky faucet can be irritating and none of us wants to face that. Let’s have a look at the common causes that lead to a leak in water pipes:

  • High water pressure

Pipes are used to a regular flow of water and it is obvious for them to burst or explode if the pressure of water gets too much for them to hold.

  • Change in temperature

When there is a sudden and extreme change in the temperature of water in the pipes, there is every chance for the pipe to crack a little and start leaking.

  • Clogged lines

Clogged lines are the most common reasons for a water pipe leak. A clog in the line takes place when unnecessary waste is either flushed down the drain or that waste somehow finds its way to the drain pipelines. Due to the clog, the pipes crack and therefore start leaking.

  • Corrosion

Corrosion is a natural process and is also the warning bell to call a plumber. Corrosion is a process where the pipes start rusting and therefore need to be immediately be replaced.

  • Damaged pipe joints

The place where two pipes meet is called the pipe joint.  With time, these pipe joints begin to deteriorate which in turn causes a leak in the water pipes

What happens when a pipe leaks?

A water pipe leak does not look as harmful as it actually can be. It may cause serious damage to property if not treated on time. Here are a few things to know about the hazards caused by a water pipe leak:

  1. Mould

An ignored water leak whether visible or not can give birth to mould and fungus. When these mould and fungus grow, they can turn into spores and can create health hazards.

  1. Water bills

Since a lot of water is wasted during a water pipe leak, the water bill is going to be on the rise and is going to be heavy on your wallets. Therefore it’s best to get a water pipe leak checked and repaired.

  1. Structural damage

If a water pipe leak is not repaired on time and left unattended for longer then it can cause serious structural damage to your property. It can also be harmful to the electric set up on your property.
